The 28^th of march is fast approaching which means only one thing, gran turismo 5 prologue is nearly here and about to make it’s debut on the playstation 3!

Gran turismo 5 prologue is a prequel that is meant to showcase the new Gran Turismo 5 for PS3, which is due out next year sometime, I won’t even guess at a date because as you probably know these dates get changed all the time. Prologue will be available both download from the playstation network and as a blu-ray disc, I will personally be downloading it on release day, it’s less hassle than going out and buying a disc and you don’t have to keep changing discs round if you want to play it as it’s on your hard drive

What to expect? To start with there are 6 tracks, but in reality 12 due to the fact you can drive them in reverse, and 71 vehicles, which include; BMW M3, Ferrari 599, astin martin DB9, integra type R, SL55 AMG, viper GTS, Lotus elise 111R, impreza WRX STi, the all new audi R8 and the all new Nissan GTR (new Skyline). It has a new physics engine for lifelike driving experience, the A.I is meant to be more intelligent to make it harder, but the thing I am looking forward to the most is the online multiplayer mode, where you can play up to 16 other players from around the world, then you get to see how you stack up against other people and how good you really are as a gamer.

 The 4 Maps are called Broadcast, Creek, China town and Killzone. Broadcast.

Broadcast is the only one you might recognize, due to it being lifted from the Iraqi campaign "Charlie Don't Surf,". Remember the one in which you assault a television station but don't just think the developer have copied and pasted the campaign map into the multiplayer pack, it uses the massive main room with all the monitors and cubicles in, this is going to be a great place for massive close quarter firefights, but large scale multiplayer match in just that room alone would be a nightmare, and all those noobs with m60e4's and no skill would lay waste to everything around. But the room has been expanded significantly there are lots of routes to get in and out of the room. Some of the routes lead to a second floor, which contains hallways and smaller rooms, the second floor also leads to the roof and an expanded parking lot area outside the main building, there is also a new small building on the other side of the parking lot. As most of the play is indoors, airstrikes and helicopters will be pretty much not be a hazard, apart from the roof. This sounds like a good map and i can't wait for some up close and personal firefights in that main room.

Creek is an all new map, it's a big, large scale outdoor map, with just a few houses clustered together on one side. Theres a huge ravine which circles the perimiter, in the middle, which has multiple pathways and levels up to the side. The trail leads along the creek bed to a waterfall, then along the bottom of the ravine there is a cave, that is long and winding, and goes underneath the hill and out the other side. There are lots of places to go on this map with lots of hiding places. It's a great map for all you snipers (i might even give the druganov a go on this stage!) due to the amount of shrubbery and underbush that is abundant on the top of the cliffs!

Haven't got much details for the other two but china town is pretty much self explanitary and kill zone i haven't got a clue what it's about, but i will keep you posted as soon as we have more details.

The Maps are to be released on the xbox 360 (xbox live) first and will cost around 800 points (about £8) then the Playstation 3 gets them late april but no prices have been announced as yet. And no i don't think it's fair that the xbox gets them first!!!

 Well the PS3 update is V1.2 and is about 12mb in size and would take that long to download during the day, might take a bit longer during peak times but no more than 10 mins. The update includes the following;

New Kill cams for RPG’s, grenades,  claymores, airstrikes, and more.

a quick Mute option to allow users to mute those annoying players who whistle or idiots playing music in the background while you are trying to concentrate this is achieved by pressing X on their user ID in the lobby

an addition of “Recently Met Players” for the PlayStation Network

Optimized servers, hope this helps with the old "host ended the game problem"

 So the best PS3 deals at the moment are a playstation 3 console (40GB), Gran turismo 5 prologue, HDMI cable (for those all important HD TV's) and free delivery, all for £289.99, not bad eh! or you can add another game for £15 like burnout paradise (with loads of titles to choose from) In my opinion you should always stretch yourself that extra little bit (£15) to get the extra game, because when you get round to buying your next game you will end up paying upto £40 for it, so it is worth saving yourself £25 while it's on offer.

 If you have broadband you can also download games off the playstation network, most of these are games like lemmings and are not next gen games but for around £3.50 they can keep you entertained for a while. There are a couple of exceptions the most important one for me being TEKKEN 5, you buy it off the playstationnetwork for £15 and download it. It's a great game and has full 1080p capability which absolutely stunning on a 1080p TV, So when you put all this together you can have a new  cheap playstation 3 console, gran turismo 5 prologue, asassins creed (or other selected game) TEKKEN 5 and a HDMI cable for £320 all in. That is astounding value for money! Be quick though as sony has only produced a limited number of these PS3 gran turismo bundles and they will sell out quick!

 Anyway the reason it has taken so long to get the rumble controller is that Sony has been in a legal battle with Immersion, the developer of game controller force feedback technology, which Sony has now settled paving the way for them to release the new dual shock 3.

 What can we expect from the dual shock 3? Well the rumble controller still features the six-axis design, the six-axis controller  has a six-axis sensing system that lets its PS3 users maneuver more intuitively by tilting their controller across Six Axis's in addition to operating the controller’s directional pad, thumbsticks and buttons, . The controller works wirelessly using internal rechargeable batteries that will recharge when you connect the controller to a PS3 via the supplied usb cable. Something tells me though that the batteries in this controller will not last as long due to the extra power needed to make the controller rumble, unless Sony stick a bigger rechargeable battery in, which i seriously doubt. It will also be heavier due to the extra components needed to make the controller rumble.

 IS it worth the hassle? for most games yes, for driving games  i like the rumble feature to tell you when you are sightly off the track, and in FPS games it is also a useful feature.

So what games are compatible? Sony announced that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, The Darkness, Rage, Burnout Paradise, Unreal Tournament 3, MotorStorm and many others will use the function. Other games like FIFA 08 and cod4 will  be able to add the  feature through a software update download on the Playstation network, which is free to all registered users.

 People who haven't bought the PS3 yet will be disappointed to learn that the rumble controller will not as part of the PS3 console bundle, but is a separately sold accessory. Something tells me though in 12 months time when the PS3 sales die down they will add these controllers to the new ps3 bundle, just like they did with ps2.
